1. These terms

Shushu is a free platform for the Israeli startup ecosystem. It helps people interested in Founding Employee roles discover opportunities at early-stage startups, and helps founders reach talent beyond their immediate network. Shushu is operated by Symbol, a venture capital firm based in Tel Aviv, and is open to the whole ecosystem, not only to Symbol’s portfolio companies.

These terms govern your use of shushu.sh, the Shushu intake forms, the personal job board and web app we create for you, and the emails we send. By signing up or using any part of the platform, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Shushu.

Our Privacy Policy forms part of these terms.

2. Who may use Shushu

You may use Shushu if you are at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a binding agreement. If you post a role or act on behalf of a company, you confirm that you are authorised to do so and that you bind that company to these terms.

3. What Shushu is — and what it is not

Shushu is a discovery platform. We surface relevant open roles to relevant people and, where both sides want it, we put them in touch.

  • We are not an employment agency, a recruiter, a headhunter, a manpower contractor or a placement service. We do not represent either side, we do not negotiate on anyone’s behalf, and we charge no fee to anyone. Not to candidates, not to companies, and not on hire.
  • We are not a party to anything that follows an introduction. Any conversation, interview, offer, engagement or employment relationship is strictly between the individual and the company.
  • We do not verify anyone. We do not confirm that a company exists, that a role is real or funded, that a job description is accurate, that a person’s background is as stated, or that any party will behave properly. Assess the other side yourself before you commit to anything.
  • We do not guarantee outcomes. We do not promise that you will be shown any particular role, that any role will be shown to any particular person, that an introduction will be requested or accepted, or that anyone will reply.

4. Free of charge

Shushu is free to use. We may introduce paid features in future; if we do, we will say so clearly in advance and nothing you already have will become chargeable without your agreement.

5. Your account and your information

You are responsible for the accuracy of everything you tell us. Please keep it current — quality matching only works if the underlying information is true.

Access to the web app is tied to the email address you signed up with. Keep control of that email account, and do not let anyone else use your access. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has gained access.

We may limit how often profile details and role preferences can be changed, and how many introduction requests can be made in a day, so that the platform stays useful for everyone.

6. If you post a role

When you post a position, you confirm that:

  • the role is genuine, currently open, and one you intend to fill;
  • the description is accurate and not misleading, including as to seniority, scope, location and stage;
  • the role and your hiring process comply with Israeli law, including the Equal Employment Opportunities Law, 1988 (התשמ"ח). You will not post a role, or state a requirement, that discriminates on any prohibited ground;
  • you have the right to share the company and founder information you give us.

You will use the details of anyone introduced to you only to evaluate and pursue that specific role. You will not add them to a recruiting database, share them with another company, pass them to a third-party recruiter, contact them about unrelated opportunities, or use their details for marketing.

You will handle their information in accordance with applicable privacy law and delete it when it is no longer needed for that role.

7. If you are looking for a role

When you sign up, you confirm that the information you give us is your own and is accurate, and that you are genuinely interested in the kinds of roles you tell us about.

Positions surfaced to you — including the existence, identity and details of stealth companies — are shared with you in confidence. Do not republish them, post them publicly, or pass them to third parties, other than through the sharing feature we provide. Do not use anything you see on Shushu to compete with, solicit from, or otherwise disadvantage the companies on the platform.

8. Things you must not do

You agree not to:

  • impersonate anyone, or create a record for a person other than yourself;
  • submit false, misleading, or deliberately incomplete information;
  • use Shushu to advertise services, recruit for third parties, or solicit business;
  • scrape, crawl, harvest, bulk-export or systematically copy any part of the platform, or use automated means to access it;
  • attempt to identify a stealth company, or to circumvent any discretion or access control we apply;
  • probe, interfere with, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or anyone’s account;
  • harass, abuse, mislead or discriminate against anyone you encounter through the platform;
  • use the platform for any unlawful purpose.

9. Content you give us

You keep ownership of everything you submit. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, process, adapt and display that content for the purpose of operating Shushu, which includes generating summaries, matching, presenting roles on job boards, and, where you have not opted out, publishing fully anonymised showcase material that contains no identifying detail.

You confirm that you have the rights necessary to give us that licence and that your content does not infringe anyone else’s rights.

10. Our content

The Shushu name, brand, website, job board, web app, copy and design are ours or our licensors’. These terms do not transfer any of it to you. You may not copy, adapt or reuse it beyond ordinary use of the platform.

11. Third-party links and services

Shushu links out to company websites, founder profiles, intake forms and other third-party services. We do not control them, we do not endorse them, and we are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability or practices. Your use of them is governed by their own terms.

12. Availability

We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of Shushu at any time, and we may run maintenance without notice. We do not promise that the platform will be uninterrupted or error-free.

13. Disclaimer

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Shushu is provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including as to accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability and non-infringement. In particular, we make no warranty about any person, company, role or introduction encountered through the platform.

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, or for any loss of employment, business opportunity, revenue, goodwill or data, arising from your use of Shushu — including anything arising from an introduction, a hiring process, a decision taken by another user, or the conduct of any other user.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for wilful misconduct.

15. Indemnity

You will indemnify us against claims, losses and reasonable costs arising from your breach of these terms, from information you submit, or from your conduct toward another user of the platform.

16. Suspension and ending your use

You can stop using Shushu at any time and deactivate your record from the web app or by writing to us. We may suspend or remove access, or remove a role, if we believe these terms have been breached or that the platform is being used in a way that undermines the discretion it is built on.

Sections 9, 10 and 13 to 18 survive the end of your use.

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the platform develops. The current version is always published at shushu.sh, with the date it was last updated at the top. If a change materially affects your rights, we will tell you by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use Shushu after a change means you accept it.

18. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel. The competent courts of Tel Aviv-Yafo have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them or from your use of Shushu.

If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in force.
